Luxury in the Skies of London…The Shangri-La Hotel

The hotel chain Shangri-La, inaugurated its third hotel in Europe a few weeks ago. After the 2010 opening of The Shangri-La Hotel in Paris, and The Shangri-La Bosphorus in Istanbul in 2013, Shangri-La makes its debut in London and we can stay at the new hotel located in the tallest skyscraper in Western Europe: The Shard.

The Shard

The building is added to the amazing list of designs of the prestigious Italian architect Renzo Piano. The modern art museum of the Centre George Pompidou in Paris, The Kansai airport terminal in Japan, The Mentil Museum in Houston and The Lingotto Factory Conversion into a multi-purpose centre in Turin, are some of the wonderful works of this admired designer.

The London’s skylines have now a new ally, The Shard, with a height of 310 meters. It is made of steel and glass. Its distribution is organized with offices on floors 2-28, delicious restaurants from 31-33, the Shangri-La on floors 34-52, private residences on floors 53-65, a viewpoint on floors 68 -72 and between 75-87 floors, there is a radiator cooling the building, which is not open to the public.

In addition, the tower has a privileged location. You will find it on the south bank of the River Thames opposite St Paul’s Cathedral and the Tower of London and has also excellent connections to the City and Canary Wharf, making the hotel an ideal destination to stay – whether you’re planning a luxury city break or a business trip.

The Shangri-La has a gym, swimming pool and a total of 202 spacious rooms, including 17 suites, among which we must highlight the Westminster Suite, the London Suite and the Shangri-La Suite. To complement the vast amounts of glass that are the predominate component of the building, the hotel’s interior design features light tones with an elegant contemporary style and modern Chinese art details that reflect the heritage of the Shangri-La group.  With its floor-to-ceiling windows, you can enjoy spectacular views of the English capital, even in its bathrooms, which are marble-cladded with heated floors and Acqua di Parma amenities.

For holding meetings and events, do not forget that you can use their rooms “Ren”, “Li” and “Yi” – each of them with different sizes to suit the needs of each client and with wonderful views of the London skyline.

And to satisfy your appetite, there is nothing better than a table at the delicious Lang Restaurant, enjoying exquisite afternoon tea at Ting, or simply enjoying your favourite drink at a bar. Other good options offered by the building are The Gong – Shard Aqua with innovative British cuisine and with the choice of a private dining room and an outstanding three-storey high atrium bar, The Hutong with delightful cuisines of China and The Oblix, great for a casual dining with menu that is tailored to suit the taste of every customer.
