London has everything you could ever need for a weekend break. From world-class attractions to a vibrant nightlife, there’s something for everyone in England’s capital. The city can almost be broken up into distinctive quarters, much like New York. There’s Soho, which has a long-standing reputation as the centre of entertainment in London. Westminster has a more serious position, as it is the home of British politics, while Camden is the capital of the underground music scene. Mayfair is more upmarket, being home to some of the country’s most exclusive restaurants, shops, members’ clubs and expensive property, while Marleybone is popular among the rich and famous, as they are drawn in by the beautiful architecture and the green open space. In this area of London, you will the find stunning Park Avenue Baker Street hotel. It’s just a two-minute walk away from Baker Street underground station, meaning you can explore the rest of London easily. All of the rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated, offering optimum comfort to all guests during their stay. There is plenty to see and do within a stone’s throw away from the hotel, such as the beautiful Regent’s Park, which covers an impressive 395 acres of land. Inside its gates, you’ll find the Queen Mary’s Gardens and its 12,000 roses, as well as the wonderfully-restored William Andrews Nesfield's Avenue GardensThe London Zoo can be reached on foot from the Park Avenue Baker Street hotel, and it’s a must see, particularly if you are bringing your children with you on your trip. Opened in 1828, its the world’s oldest scientific zoo and contains 756 different species of animals. If you’re looking for a bit of retail therapy, then you’ll be pleased to know that the hotel provides you with easy access to well-known shopping centres like Bond Street, Oxford Street and Regent Street. Madame Tussauds is another top attraction located close to the hotel, and one that often appears on lists about the must sees of London. You can see incredibly life-like waxwork models of your favourite stars and take plenty of selfies with them. The Park Avenue Baker Street hotel makes so many of London’s top attractions accessible, while providing beautiful surroundings for an overnight stay or long weekend.

To celebrate the Queen ringing in her 90th year, three special exhibitions have been put together to show the evolution of her unique dress sense from childhood to present day.‘Fashioning a Reign: 90 Years of Style from the Queen's Wardrobe’ will see the public welcomed in to Queen Elizabeth’s official residences from July 23rd to October 2nd. The aim of the exhibition is to chart significant events in the monarch’s life and the nation’s history through a stunning selection of dresses and accessories. Overall there are 150 of the Queen’s outfits displayed in the Palace of Holyroodhouse, Windsor Castle and Buckingham Palace. The ensembles exhibited are chosen because of their close association with each location. Highlights at the Palace of Holyroodhouse exhibition include beautifully crafted evening and daywear from notable couturiers like Sir Norman Hartnell and Ian Thomas. One of the most striking pieces is the gold dress with tartan sash that the Queen wore for the Gillies’ Ball, Balmoral Castle, in 1971. At Windsor Castle you'll be able to see examples of the work of some royal dressmakers and learn about the specialist techniques of designers and milliners. There are magnificent evening gowns on display, next to fancy-dress costumes worn by the young Princess Elizabeth. One of the highlights here is a blue silk and silk chiffon dress worn for a state visit to Japan in 1975. You can see Queen Elizabeth’s Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS) uniform at Buckingham Palace, which she wore when she became the first female member of the Royal Family to join the Armed Services full time. The uniform created for the Queen when she became Colonel-in-Chief of the Grenadier Guards in 1952 is also on display, alongside a vermicelli design dress she wore at a state banquet on Italy in 1961. If you’re visiting London between now and October, you should add ‘Fashioning a Reign’ to your list of must-see sights and attractions. It will give you a unique insight into the life of Queen Elizabeth and how she has cemented herself as one of Britain’s most important monarchs.

London is one of the world’s most exciting and diverse cities, where you will find something that piques your interest no matter what you want to get from your trip. There are the obvious big attractions in England’s capital, such as Big Ben, the Tower of London, Buckingham Palace and the London Eye, which are must sees when you come to the city. However, you’d only be scratching the surface of what London has to offer. This city has hidden gems tucked away in every nook and cranny, you just have to be willing to stray from the beaten track. One of London’s most idiosyncratic oddities is the Viktor Wynd Museum of Curiosities, Fine Art and Natural History, where you will find unusual artefacts and surreal artwork.Leighton House Museum is another inconspicuous attraction - at least it is from the outside. It’s a different story once you pass the threshold, as you are confronted with dramatic and grand rooms filled with classical treasures collected by artist Frederic Leighton. If it’s retail therapy you’re after, then London has what you’re looking for in spades. You can splash the cash or window shop to your heart’s content on Oxford Street and in Knightsbridge, or be charmed by the bijou boutiques on Carnaby Street. Whether you’re pounding the pavement with hands laden with shopping bags, or you’ve spent the day on an open top double-decker bus taking in all the sights, you’ll need somewhere to rest your head. There are plenty of accommodation options available to you for your trip to London. You can choose to stay in a hostel, a quirky bed and breakfast or rent a person’s home for a completely unique experience. If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city for a while, you could stay at the Carlton Mitre Hotel, which is located near Kingston upon Thames. Built in 1665, this hotel has bags of character and charm that will make your trip to London one that you’re not likely to forget. You can easily commute back into the lively centre of London to experience the vibrant nightlife, where you can visit glitzy bars for extravagant cocktails or sample world-class cuisine in the one of the hundreds of restaurants located in the city. Whatever you choose to do during your stay, you’ll be captivated by this amazing city.

The summer is here, the sun is shining and London has truly come alive. Visitors to the capital will find a treasure trove of attractions and events to keep them entertained and occupied during the warmer months.1. The city welcomes a highly-anticipated theatre event this summer, as the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child show opens its doors. Tickets for the original run sold out in seconds when they went on sale last year, but with the show now extended through the summer and beyond, fans will have the chance to catch the story of a now middle-aged Harry as his son Albus starts his studies at Hogwarts. 2. After taking in a show, visitors to London may want to grab a bite to eat at the capital’s most exciting new restaurant, Bao. The Taiwanese eatery opened its second London site this summer and it really is an absolute treat. 3. Those with a head for heights will want to check out an attraction in the capital which is one part modern art, one part thrill seeker’s dream. The ArcelorMittal Orbit is a stunning-looking slide that has been erected at the Olympic Park. Designed by Belgian artist Carsten Höller, the sculpture stands 114.5 metres tall and features a 178 metre slide intertwined around its distinctive tower. Unsurprisingly, with figures like those, it is the world’s tallest and longest slide. 4. Coming back down to ground level, art lovers will want to pay a trip to the newly-opened Tate Modern. The gallery’s Switch House extension opened its doors in June, which means it now boasts 60 per cent more space for exhibitions. 5. Always a must-see event, the Notting Hill Carnival returns in all of its glory this August. Held over the bank holiday weekend, Europe’s largest street festival brings a dazzling array of colours, sights, sounds and smells. From processions and live music to dancers and street food, Notting Hill really does burst into life and provides a stand-out moment of the summer.

When you think of London, you'll probably imagine the busy city streets, the hordes of people and the thousands of buses. What you might not think of, however, is the array of stunning parks that the city is home to.One of the most well-known is undoubtedly Hyde Park, which is based in the centre of London. This beautiful park covers 350 acres of land and is home to a number of famous landmarks including the Serpentine Lake, Speakers' Corner and the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fountain.Enjoy a picnic in the sun, a walk to see the sites or take part in open-water swimming, boating, cycling, tennis or horse riding.A number of events are also held here throughout the year. One of the most popular is British Summer Time, a summer extravaganza that's held every year.Enjoy live music, comedy acts and films, as well as an array of cafes, independent food stalls, themed pubs and cocktail bars. Another popular location is Walpole Park in Ealing, west London.Formerly the grounds of Pitzhanger Manor, which dates back to the 18th century, Walpole Park is one of the best green spaces in the capital. The manor has now been transformed into a popular museum and art gallery, and visitors can also enjoy the ornamental gardens and lake.Throughout the summer months you can find a number of events here, including the Ealing Beer Festival and a variety of events dedicated to comedy, opera, blues and jazz.So instead of travelling out of London to enjoy the sunny weather, head to one of the many parks that are right on your doorstep.
