Okura Prestige – it’s foodie heaven

As well as its stunning beaches, friendly locals and fascinating history, Thailand is famous the world over for its distinctive cuisine. And nowhere does traditional Thai food with a contemporary twist better than the Okura Prestige Lodge.

Situated in the bustling heart of the capital of Bangkok, the hotel boasts the very highest levels of hospitality, allowing guests to experience the best of best of Thailand in complete, five-star luxury. The Okura Lodge boasts not one but three world-class restaurants, all offering something different.

The Elements restaurant, for example, offers a modern twist on traditional Thai and international dishes, with the constantly-changing menus reflecting the diverse tastes that have helped make Bangkok a true foodie heaven. And, though Elements is fitted with an open kitchen, giving diners the chance to watch the chefs work their magic, it’s the views over downtown Bangkok that really take the breath away, and, in good weather, diners are free to eat out on the alfresco cantilevered deck, or even sit by the pool.

Adding a fresh twist on luxury dining, meanwhile, the Yamazto restaurant offers Japanese cuisine, complete with Thai influences. The award-winning venue specialises in serving sushi made from only the freshest seafood, as well as being one of the few places outside of Japan where diners can enjoy Kaiseki Ryori, a centuries-old type of haute cuisine. As with Elements, the menu is changed constantly, especially during Japanese festivals.

For something less formal but no less luxurious, the Up and Above bar and lounge is famed for serving the best brunch in Bangkok, as well as the finest cocktails. Up and Above is open right through the day and into the early hours of the morning. But for the best experience, drop in at sunset to enjoy the views with a cocktail in hand, or escape the noise and franticness of central Bangkok and take afternoon tea here. Alongside this world-class cuisine, the Okura Prestige also offers luxurious accommodation. All of its 240 rooms boast stunning views over central Bangkok and come equipped with all the facilities one would expect of a five-star hotel, and many extras, too.
