I had the pleasure of going to the brilliant 3rd edition of the London Art Fairs recently. It ran from the 20th to 23rd of May and if you missed it, I hope this post will inspire you to go to Art16. I know I would go if I could, but I will have unfortunately left London by then.
Art15 welcomed leading artists, galleries and collectors from all over the world. New director Kate Bryan managed to collect more than 150 exhibitors for the event, coming from over 40 different countries and confirming the show’s unique status as London’s most global art fair.
The diverse range of exhibitors reflected the fair’s ambition to foster global networks and introduce both new and established collectors to exceptional galleries and artists from every corner of the world.
Art15 saw more than 23,500 visitors over the 3 days, including high-profile collectors such as David Roberts, Wang Wei and Mera Rubell. Other visitors included designers Matthew Williamson and Mary Katrantzou, singer Florence Welch and human rights activist Bianca Jagger.
The Galleries section welcomed established galleries from around the world to showcase a wide variety of media, from the masters of the modern era, through to leading international artists from the contemporary scene.
Art15 showcased specially created sculptures and artist projects throughout the fair, including site-specific pieces that interacted with your journey through Olympia.
The event also held two public talks focusing on the importance of Private Museums in the globalised art world, as part of their annual Global Private Museum Summit initiative.
As part of the festival, the London First program helped young international galleries make their London debut. Aaron Cezar, Director of Delfina Foundation, selected the participants as Art15′s London First curatorial advisor, and gave new galleries an unprecedented opportunity to make their mark on London.
Here are some more photos of the incredible artwork available at Art15, and some of the ones I liked the most:
