Lafodia Hotel – the best short break venue in Croatia?

If there was ever a place to go for a short break in late summer, Croatia is it – and the Lafodia Hotel and Resort is a prime destination. The country as a whole is very hot in summer and cold in winter, so late August and September makes it a good time to go when it is still warm, but not too much so. What makes Lafodia Hotel and Resort even better is its location on the breezy Adriatic island of Lapud, close to the coast and offering both wonderful seaside scenery and grand views of the mountains in the distance.

The island is a 50-minute ferry ride from the beautiful port city of Dubrovnik, which means even the journey is great. Guests will have to walk for around 900 metres from the island’s terminal to the hotel, but even this is part of the charm; as a car-free island, Lapud is a place where things happen at their own pace. In this idyllic spot, visitors can enjoy some wonderful vistas across the bay, with several other islands scattered around the shallower waters on the Balkan side of the Adriatic, while Italy lies far, far away across the expanse to the west. Where better to watch the sunset from the hotel’s lofty vantage point? Add to this the superb outdoor swimming pools and the palm trees, and this is a fantastic spot to be. Once inside, the hotel has plenty more to offer. If you can ever tear yourself away from the view, there is free Wi-Fi and LCD TV’s to enjoy.

The restaurants are another fine feature of the hotel. The menu is a fascinating fusion of Croatian, Dalmatian and Italian cuisine. There is a fine array of meat, fish and seasonal foods to choose from. One of the new features of the hotel is its spa, which offers a fine way to relax, be refreshed and rejuvenated. With so much to help guests relax, soak up the view and eat well, this is a hotel and resort that provides a magical break, however long you are there for.
