Festival ArMeN, a regatta gala in Saint Tropez

For those who are nautical fans and love to spend their days by the French waterside, you’ll love the ArMeN Festival in Saint Tropez. The regatta takes its name from the components that make the event what it is, which are comprised of art, skiing and sailing.

Organised by the societe Nautique, the festival was originally created by Rene Perrier and it has been running every year since 1978. Always well attended, this event is the first of the major regattas every year and it covers two whole weekends, which this year runs between 26th February and 6th March. This is of course the 39th edition of the competition and it’s expected to attract many fans ahead of the four decade celebrations that will happen next year. In all, more than 70 sailors will be taking to the waters of Saint Tropez to take part in this prestigious event.

If you’re going to be in St Tropez at the beginning of March, then you’ll be able to watch the actual regatta part of the festival that will take place in the gulf of the area. At the end of February there was an initial round of the regatta gala and a test – as in cricket – of skiing is currently taking place today (Friday 4th March). Of course St Tropez is one of the most beautiful spots of France to visit at any time of year, but it’s particularly stunning in summer, and it’s enjoyed by many.

When you’re planning your holiday, we recommend that you book your stay at the Kube Hotel in Saint Tropez. This hotel is in an ideal location as it’s set on landscaped gardens and is a mere two-minute walk to the coast, meaning that if you want to watch the regatta all you have to do is stroll your way there. If you would like to try some sailing yourself, the hotel also happens to be only half a mile from the St Tropez Sailing and windsurfing School where you can get some lessons from seasoned professionals.
