A modern twist on the old school in Budapest

Visitors to Budapest will often be able to enjoy a mix of the old and the new, from historic buildings dating back centuries to modern offices constructed after the fall of Communism, but one hotel manages this combination with a real twist. The Boscolo Budapest is a hotel that undoubtedly believes in old school luxury. To wander through its interior is to see huge, sparkling chandeliers, open, airy spaces with lots of light, gold leaf and Italianate architecture. Yet the rooms come with a distinctly modern flavour, with understated pastel tones, modern design styles and abstract, post-modern art.

It is located in a superb setting in the heart of the Hungarian capital, close to the Jewish Quarter with its Jewish Museum and unique bars and cafes, making it a great place to spend an evening. The hotel is also easily reached, being just a short walk from the Blaha Lujza Ter Metro station.  Also nearby are the Andrassy Boulevard and the Opera House, as well as all the city centre’s restaurants, bath houses and theatres. The chief aim of the hotel is to enable guests to feel that the Boscolo is their own residence in Budapest, a place not only to feel at home in, but to be amazed by. Each of the suites has air conditioning, lots of space to spread out in over two floors, a fitted kitchen with a lunch area and a lounge with a flat-screen TV and free internet access. They range in size from one to three bedrooms accommodating up to eight people.

The hotel is a wonderful place to dine in, for it plays host to the Boscolo New York Cafe, widely regarded as one of the very best in the world. It is here that guests can taste traditional Hungarian dishes and fine Italian cuisine. Next to this is the Salon Fine Dining Restaurant and the bar.  Mixing old and new styles and art, the Boscolo really is a hotel with something for everyone. Small wonder it feels like a home from home.
